HuskyHoops
Creating community through spirit.
I founded HuskyHoops in 2022, where I ran the first-ever club basketball team on UConn Stamford’s campus, not just to start a team, but to build culture and camaraderie through sports.
Make it
Happen
When I first arrived at UConn Stamford, just two hours from the "basketball capital of the world" in Storrs, CT. I was shocked to find no intramural basketball, no club teams, no real outlet for students to connect through the game. It didn’t feel right. I founded HuskyHoops. Not just as a club basketball team, but as a movement to bring school spirit, healthy competition, and community back to campus. We became the first-ever club sports team at UConn Stamford, giving students a platform to play, represent their campus, and build something they could be proud of. What started as a few conversations turned into a full-fledged organization with a Competition Committee, Events Team, and Media division, and even inspired the formation of a new club soccer team. HuskyHoops was about more than basketball. It was about creating a sense of belonging, tradition, and pride. Proving that even at a commuter campus, you can build culture from the ground up.

Student Government Association
Policy, programming, and student advocacy — reimagined.
As SGA Vice President, I helped transform how our student government functions, turning it into a more efficient, visible, and student-centered organization.
Keep
Going
The momentum I built with HuskyHoops caught the attention of student leaders, including my friend Mohammed, who was running for Student Body President. Recognizing the impact I was making on student life, he invited me to run alongside him as Vice President. Together, we saw the untapped potential of UConn Stamford, not just as a commuter campus, but as a place that screams opportunity and where we allow ideas, leadership, and culture to thrive.
Our campaign was rooted in one question:
What legacy do we want to leave behind?
Once elected, we expanded the same values I brought to HuskyHoops; collaboration, structure, and student-centered thinking to student government as a whole. We standardized internal operations, launched over 20 initiatives, and successfully negotiated paid compensation for all SGA positions. We knew things can’t be changed in an instant, but we culturally turned scattered effort into organized momentum, and planted seeds for lasting change for future classes.

Economic Research & Policy Council
Data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced policy environment.
I served as team lead and housing economist for UConn’s team in the Federal Reserve Challenge hosted by the New York Fed.
Don’t
Look Back
I first got involved in economic research through UConn Stamford’s Federal Reserve Challenge Practicum, a competitive course where student teams analyze current economic conditions and present monetary policy recommendations to economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. My role focused specifically on the housing and real estate market, where I led research using Bloomberg Terminal data to track mortgage rates, delinquency trends, and property values. Our team’s performance earned us an invitation to Washington D.C., where we had the chance to meet Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. That experience opened my eyes; not only to the caliber of economic thinking across top institutions, but to the potential we had yet to unlock at UConn Stamford. As a relatively new school in the N.Y. Fed sector, we realized how important it was to build something sustainable. In response, we founded the Economic Research & Policy Council to expand awareness of the challenge, scout new talent, and prepare future teams for national competition. Since its founding, the Council has doubled in size and continues to foster a stronger research culture on campus; built on curiosity, initiative, and long-term impact.
